A multi shortcut tool for Windows users

A long time ago, in a teenage room far, far away, I made a small tool for Windows 2000 and XP called K.F Tools.

It was a hobby project I made in Delphi back around 2003 to 2005.

Features

The tool was a multi-shortcut tool that could launch applications and open folders, from the systray (An icon besides the clock in Windows). It also included a lot of different tools like:

  • A simple text editor
  • Image converter
  • Alarm clock with custom sounds
  • Simple encryption and decryption tool
  • A frontend for misc. Danish online radio stations
  • Able to shuffle desktop wallpapers from a folder
  • Timed shutdown of the computer
  • Show the system uptime
  • And much more...

Public release

It was a simple tool, but it was fun to make, since it was my first real software project intended for public use.

The software was published on the CD with a monthly Danish computer magazine called "Alt om data", and I received many nice emails from people who used the tool. I even got a few feature requests, which I implemented in the following versions.

Open source

The project is now released as open source on GitHub, after I made it compatible with Windows 10.

The original version was intended for Windows 2000 and XP and written in Delphi 7 and Delphi 2005. But since some of the functionality are now outdated, I removed them from the project. The rest of the tools were updated to work on Windows 10, and can be compiled using Delphi 10.3 CE.
